I recently completed Bartley's New England Chest of Drawers #0414 in curley maple. This is a beautiful colonial piece with simple lines, four graduated drawers, and a reasonable amount of storage space. As typical for Bartley's kits, the wood and the millwork were beautiful. I finished this piece with Moser's Lt Brown Walnut Aniline Dye, Bartley's gel wiping varnish, steel wool, and wax.
The following notes apply:
>>> I water treated and sanded all pieces before assembly
>>> I assembled the kit in accordance with the kit instructions. With the exception of the Drawer Guide Tracks which I covered in a separate posting, the kit went together with a minimum of fitting and adjustment.
>>> I finished this piece as described in the postings on my other curly maple pieces.
This is a great kit, with lots of beautiful wood, lots of fitting and assembly, and lots of finishing. This piece will join my other Bartley curly maple pieces in our home in Hancock, NH.
Regards,
