I am a retired Naval Architect and shipbuilding executive. In retirement, I enjoy wood working and building scale sailing ship models (1760 thru 1880). I currently split my time between homes in Hancock, NH; and San Diego, CA.
I built my 1st Bartley Collection kit, a mahogany blanket chest, in 1984. I assembled and finished the kit in my apartment in Saint John, NB. The blanket chest has since been moved to Bath, ME; Poway, CA; San Diego, CA; and now Hancock, NH. I recently went over the finish (Bartley gel stain & varnish) with fine steel wool and wax, and execpt for a few scratches, it still looks great. I have since built a number of Bartley mahogany kits, and I am now building a collection of Bartley curley maple and cherry kits to furnish my new home in Hancock, NH.
Regards,
